The Fall Wishlist of a Chronic Window Shopper

collage of various items: handbags, shoes, sunglasses, denim jeans, water bottle, stone drop earrings, perfume

I’m a chronic window shopper as in: I make a giant wishlist of what I want, watch it all sell out, and then live with crippling regret for the next 60 business days. I rarely spend money on new items, and when I do, it’s because I’ve ruminated on it for a considerable amount of time before finally purchasing. My long deliberation is driven by both my indecisiveness and my desire to be as conscious of a consumer as possible.

However, if I had a limitless budge and was quicker to act, these are the 13 items I’d purchase, ranging from clothing and accessories, to bags and shoes, to jewelry and…a surprisingly chic water bottle?

  1. Sofia East West Shoulder Bag — I saw this bag in person at the Reformation store and audibly gasped! The vibrant Klein blue suede felt unexpected but still somehow completely wearable. It’s a bag that could be dressed up or down, and works just as hard in a maximalist’s wardrobe as it does in a minimalists. I imagine wearing this with a relatively casual outfit: jeans, a cozy sweater, flats or loafers, and letting the bag be the center of attention (as she obviously deserves to be).

  2. Cannon Sunglasses in Merlot — Something about me? I love a funky pair of sunnies. The way these frames are a different shape than the lenses continues to live in my head rent free. They come in a variety of colorways, but the newest merlot shade is the one I can see myself wearing when my otherwise monochromatic outfit needs a little extra something.

  3. Charlee Low Rise Straight Leg Jeans — I will shout from the rooftop how much I LOVE Reformation denim! I have owned several pairs over the years. They’re incredible quality for the price and truly last. I gravitate toward their styles that are completely cotton for a more true vintage look and feel. And as a girlie with a short torso, I love a low rise option that works best for my body type to elongate my frame. Of all the washes in this style specifically, I’m most drawn to the Ondine wash for a beautifully rich indigo color.

  4. Sandy Short — When an elevated (yet still equally cozy) alternative to soft clothes comes across my desk, I take notice. These shorts immediately caught my attention. I adore the graphite stripe colorway, but the red is show-stopping as well. They’re incredibly versatile and could be styled as a comfy work from home outfit, with heels and an oversized sweater for the holiday season, or with a tee and flats once spring rolls around.

  5. Long Sylvie Rivière Earrings in Moissanite — Stopped me in my tracks. When I saw the Dorsey launch email in my inbox for these earring, they immediately went on my wishlist. The varying stone sizes and dramatic length are begging to be worn to a black tie event or a holiday party. But the way I envision myself wearing them most is with a surprisingly simple and casual outfit for a intentionally unkempt 90s off duty feel.

  6. Suede Tabi Flats from Atorie — Another girl with tabis on her wishlist! Shocker! But hey, I’ve been dreaming of a pair for over 3 years. I’ve never pulled the trigger primarily due to the price of Margiela tabis. But with so many more options on the market now that are still high quality and made-by-hand, it might just be time for them to make their grand entrance.

  7. Chrome Ceramic Water Bottle — In a world of over-hyped water bottles, be this chrome one from Frank Green instead. It comes in a variety of fun colorways and feels more unique than the same one that everyone else has (cough cough, Stanley, cough cough)

  8. Alix Jumper in Cobalt — Okay, so I’m clearly having a thing for blue right now. This bright cobalt sweater from Sézane is made from a blend of 70% super kid mohair and 30% silk. The color and fabrication are both incredibly luxurious and is the kind of investment that would easily earn its cost-per-wear it my wardrobe.

  9. Monroe Earrings in Silver — After spending the first 7 years of my career in the jewelry industry, I love a fun and unexpected piece. These earrings from Jenny Bird are such a fun statement and perfect for the girl who wants a stacked earring look with zero effort. They come in silver or gold, and are currently on sale. Do with that information what you will.

  10. Lazy Retro Shoulder Bag — I have plenty of tiny shoulder bags or large totes but nothing in between. I love the size of this one from Atorie. It has a timeless simplicity without being boring (not to mention a certain Balenciaga essence)

  11. Côme Hooded Scarf in Heather Grey — For the girlies who get overstimulated by scarves that inevitably come unwrapped, this one’s for you. I own this in the darker charcoal grey colorway, but I love this lighter shade as well. Sézane always knocks their knitwear out of the park, and I can’t recommend it highly enough if you want to add a cozy balaclava to your rotation.

  12. Solange Mules in Black Haircalf —Another beautiful Sézane find: these haircalf mules. I tried them on in store and sadly they didn’t work for my narrow feet, but if you have a normal-to-wide width foot, these would be such a gorgeous fall shoe. So please let me know if you decide to get them so I can live vicariously through you! Thanks in advance!

  13. Stripe Market Tote Bag — This is my wildcard: a tote bag from Chan Luu that is more colorful than what I typically gravitate toward. But she’s so fun, I can’t stop thinking about her! The color combo, contrast leather straps, and oversized sequins scream serotonin dressing. And while fall is typically for darker, muted colors, I can’t help thinking this is the kind of piece that would get you stopped in the street if you wore it during the colder months.

I hope you enjoyed this little taste of my window shopping wishlist.

xx, Annalise
