My Fall Outfit Formula

Here’s a lil fall fit check featuring all of my closet staples –

When we moved to LA a few months ago, we had to downsize sooo much. My husband and I went from living in a two bedroom house to a 250 sq ft apartment with one tiny closet that we share. We packed up both of our compact cars with what we could fit and sold the rest. So when we moved, all of my clothing fit into two suitcases. I sold/donated half of my closet – that I will say was already pretty small.

It has been a challenge at times, but I’ve honestly been really enjoying trying to style my staples in more fun and interesting ways, especially as it (finally) starts to cool down enough in LA to start layering (!!!)

Lately, I’ve been wearing some iteration of this outfit multiple times per week –

A tank top layered under a button-up shirt, pair with some vintage denim or some other comfy pair of pants, finished off with a fun, neutral bag and socks and loafers.

New Year. Same Basics.

Let’s face it. It may be 2021, but I’m still wearing the comfiest clothes in my closet. Not much has changed in my strategy for picking out an outfit simply because it’s a new year. I’m still spending my days at home, so I’m typically opting for my trusty sweatsuit for the ultimate cozy-chic vibes. On the occasion that I put on normal clothes — can we even still call them that anymore?? — comfort is still key.

For this look, I focused on my go-to basics and paired my softest pair of denim with my favorite fitted black t-shirt. I threw my favorite blazer on top to disguise this outfit as a chic one when in actuality, it’s just your standard jeans and tee combo. I finished the look off with my checkered bag and my go-to boots for the winter, Dr. Martens. My Docs have been a winter staple for me since 2018. I love how versatile they are, and I typically end up wearing them almost every day in the colder months.

Winter Refresh with Vestiaire Collective

It’s no secret that I’m super passionate about sustainability, especially when it comes to fashion. So I was beyond excited when I discovered Vestiaire Collective earlier this year. They have become my new favorite destination for amazing secondhand pieces.

Vestiaire Collective has the most insane selection of vintage and secondhand designer and luxury items from around the world. Being able to shop all of my favorite designers on a secondhand platform with amazing deals is definitely a win win win. :) With COVID, it has become easier and easier to shop online and more and more difficult to shop secondhand at local vintage or thrift stores. I love that Vestiaire combines those two worlds – you can shop safely from the comfort of your own home while still choosing secondhand items and supporting a circular fashion cycle.
